I was still in high school back when Shodown blew me away. Then I heard you lost FFF on a work computer because you no longer work there, and then your site disappeared. I honestly thought you died, Splashkhat. So it was very surprising to see you back in action, on the aging flash platform and the aging newgrounds website, no less.

You were a huge inspiration to me, I borrowed your animation techniques heavily, I downloaded flash in middle school cause I watched FFF.
And now I'm a grown ass man, eugh, the nostalgia.

As for this movie, it's mostly the nostalgia talking. I liked the enhanced sprites, and the additional segments with cecil. The only thing missing is that - it didn't have the simplicity of the original version, and the characters felt less confined to the FF battle system than it did in the original works.

SplashKhat responds:

It was a couple of fans who offered to take care of the site and domain for me. When I'm creating stuff I tend to just disappear into my own realm of existence, so I thought it best to leave it in their hands. Then without notice or warning to even me it vanished. I never was able to reach those guys again.

Not sure where you heard about me losing FFF. I kept a backup of everything on a little flash drive for years. It's survived all this time in a backpack or in my pocket just waiting for the day. I had hoped to save up enough to sit down and work on it, but that never happened. I've had some good adventures though, so no regrets. And Flash has grown up to be a bad ass. All the things I've wanted to do with 3D it's fully capable of doing now with an extension.

And hey, Shodown completely broke the FF battle system. It wouldn't be a complete remake without some of that action. But I'm glad we're back in touch. Let's see this thing through to the end.

a thoroughly educational experience

I'm still trying ot figure out what the fuck you smoked, though.

it's refreshing to see a video game parody that doesn't resort to dickbuttss and retard noises. Please keep up the great work.

I remember watching the original zero dragon a long, long time ago
it had animated traces of bruce lee, lei fang, xiaoyu and wang
it was really uncanny but theres a weird charm to ii
in fact it was so weird it popped in my head every now and then and I was tempted to rewatch it
...but it's gone, I could never find it

until I finally stumbled across this remake today

shadowcounter responds:

Thanks. This was all done in very time time frames, since I don't have much time to work on flash. I do still plan on implementing the Lei Fang. I still have the original on cd.

pfffhahahahaha
this reminded me of that time when my boss hired that search engine utilization expert, except we didn't high five and steve lost his job
you recreated the scenario so well that I couldn't help but burst out laughing

Sexual-Lobster responds:

damn...

Went checking every NWAR after noticing NWAR#4 on front page.
This is top notch, it's rare to find comedy on newgrounds that didn't resort to profanity. Please keep going!

danmarkowitz responds:

Thanks a lot!

The amount of oldschool disney references is enough to propel me back into 1990s and never return. I trust that multiple alcoholic beverages were used to fuel the production of Ducktalez 7.

Macaroni-Penguin responds:

Not quite. Multiple alcoholic beverages were used to delay its production more than anything. :)

It's been a very long time since I've seen a good sprite movie. I loved how you custom edited details and crossed multiple games to make this work. Every action is detailed, and there weren't any lazy bits that sprite movies tend to have. Clearly lots of love and effort went into this and I hope you continue with the great work.

My only problem right now is there are too much buildup and too much plot stuffed together, nothing gets resolved and the web only gets bigger and bigger.

Also please cite your sources used, if it isn't too much trouble.

BallinSNN122 responds:

Regarding the plot, I have the entire series (7 parts and maybe an epilogue chapter) outlined in a text document on my computer. So I guess I can offer a double edged agreement to your sentiment - I agree that this episode has a lot of buildup, which I mentioned in a news post regrettably had to be done for later episodes to make sense.

I also must say that the series is going according to plan, and that when the next episode is primarily action, no one watching will be confused. Let me promise you that I don't come up with the plot on the fly, all the details are deliberate and thought out. You seem to have noticed, so I thank you very much for that.

As for the sources, it probably wouldn't hurt to list them. I use a few custom sheets, but a decent number of sprites were customized by me personally. I thought it may be redundant to list things like "Mega Man sprites from Sprite Inc, and copyrights held by Capcom." I for one will never be confused as taking credit for the assets from Mega Man, Groove Adventure Rave, Metal Slug, etc.

I'll consider revising that approach. At the very least know that the final credits will be comprehensive in credit-giving.

Thanks for the review!

Ducktale Z raised the bar too high and left me with great expectations
this one felt soulless in comparison

using 3D models for the ducks didn't mesh very well; they were intentionally meant shitty, being 3d and having low FPS, now that's lost.

the voices were also kinda weird, maybe it's cause it had higher quality or something, because now it REALLY sounded like a grownup trying to squeak his voice.

those are the major complaints, the rest are still great, Killer Robot is baller.

Macaroni-Penguin responds:

Thanks! You're right on the ball about the recordings. I'm losing my voice with age, so these last few episodes will probably be the last.

no video is complete without a backed kickstarter project for 160k, please show me to the nearest paypal link to back this project.
